How TubeTalk works
A simple way to make nearby conversations easier when the environment is too loud for normal speech.
1

Open TubeTalk nearby

Each person opens the app on their iPhone. Keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on so iOS can discover nearby devices. Internet access is not required.

2

Connect directly

Choose a nearby person or use proximity connection on supported devices. TubeTalk uses local device-to-device communication instead of a phone call.

3

Talk with more clarity

TubeTalk relays speech, reduces background noise, boosts voice volume, and can show live captions or offline translations when available.

Does TubeTalk need internet?

No. TubeTalk is designed for nearby device-to-device communication. Keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on, but no mobile signal or Wi-Fi internet connection is required.

Why must Wi-Fi and Bluetooth be on?

iOS uses both radios to discover and connect nearby devices. Even without internet, Wi-Fi helps provide the speed and reliability needed for live voice.

Do I need noise-cancelling headphones?

No. Noise-cancelling headphones can help in loud environments, but TubeTalk also works with regular earbuds, wired headphones, Bluetooth headphones, or the iPhone speaker.

Why does TubeTalk ask for microphone and local network permissions?

Microphone access is required for voice chat. Local network access allows nearby devices to discover and connect with each other.

Why can performance vary?

Real-world performance depends on device model, microphone position, headphones, distance between devices, radio conditions, and surrounding noise.
